OUR LEARNING COMMUNITY
Message from Melanie

I have some wonderful news! The Frankel Religious School has been awarded a substantial grant from the Legacy Heritage Innovation Project to support and enhance the B’Yachad program for the 2008-2009 school year. This was a competitive grant; our proposal was one of only twenty one grants awarded this year by this funding organization dedicated to promoting innovation in Jewish education and congregational life. Rabbi Rosenbaum and I will be attending a two-day seminar in the New York area at the beginning of June, where we will meet with the funders, consultants, and other grant recipients. I look forward to sharing the details with you.

We will be spending significant time this summer planning next year’s programs and growing professionally. Andi Neuwirth will be attending a seminar at Emory University on “Teaching Israel,” Rachel Yedidia will be participating in training in the Tal Am Hebrew program, and we hope to have at least one teacher participate in training for the Chalav U’Dvash Hebrew program that we introduced this past year in the kindergarten. I am already involved in discussions with our clergy and teaching staff focused on our 7th and 8th grade programs; our goal is to provide such a captivating and meaningful program that 100% of our eligible 7th and 8th graders stay involved in Jewish educational experiences.

Those of you with children eligible for our school programs should have received registration materials. If they have not already arrived in the mail or you need extra forms, please contact Andi in the religious school office by June 13th. Returning students must be registered by July 15th in order to receive the “Early Bird” rates; tuition for returning students is higher after July 15th. We strongly urge you to complete the school registration process by July 15th so that we can make staffing and scheduling decisions, begin preparing class rosters, and order sufficient quantities of books and materials without being wasteful.

Have a wonderful summer.

B'Shalom,
Melanie
